• About Us

Conference & Event Services provides affordable overnight housing on campus in the University of Minnesota residence halls and apartments. Our staff can arrange various dining options, including meal plans for residential restaurants, catering, and campus restaurants. In addition, we offer assistance in securing a variety of venues, including classrooms, theaters, athletic facilities, and reception spaces to suit all of your conference, event, or camp's needs.

    • Katie Olson-Williams


      Katie joined Housing & Residential Life (HRL) as a Conference & Event Services (CES) Coordinator in January 2014. Currently, Katie provides leadership and strategic direction for CES, Communications, and Marketing. 

      Katie holds a master's degree in Leadership in Student Affairs and brings over 15 years of professional experience in Higher Education. Outside of work, you will find Katie spending time with her family and friends, running/walking, or cooking. She loves the lake and is an avid ice cream connoisseur. 


    • Mariah Marx

      Operations Coordinator

      Mariah began working with conferences in August 2014. She joined the team as the Operations Coordinator in April 2018. Mariah works with Interns, REUs, Orientation, Housing Registration Services, and serves as the Application Administrator for summer conference software.

      Mariah has a background in Design and has an affinity for travel and technology. She loves learning and is in the midst of a M.S. in Management of Technology.     • Beth Steffen


      Beth joined the Conference & Event Services team in April 2018 as one of the coordinators. She works with the majority of youth groups and Multi-Facility Use Agreement contracts. Previously, Beth spent her time working in residential life while also assisting with conference operations at other institutions.

      Beth has a background in Higher Education and Counseling with many years of experience working directly with college students.  In her free time, she can be found cheering on her nephews at a variety of sporting events or trying to recreate the next big Pinterest project.  


    • Pascalle Nelson

      CES Intern

      Pascalle started working as a Conference & Event Services Intern in November 2016. She assists with client communication and the contracting process. Pascalle also handles referrals for non-conference event inquiries and has thus grown very familiar with the many event spaces on the UMN Twin Cities campus.

      Pascalle is a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota and has a B.S in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. She is currently preparing for graduate school. Pascalle is also a cat-enthusiast, art hobbyist, and a mom to a one-year-old!


    • Elsa Marshall

      CES Intern  

      Elsa began working as a Conference and Event Services Intern in March 2019. Elsa's highlight of her first summer has been the Leadership Series, conducted by our ACUHO-I Intern. This series allowed her to get a better understanding of the Conference process and the roles within each residence hall and it was a great opportunity to get to know other students within HRL. 

      Elsa is pursuing a degree in Communication and Digital Media Studies. Between classes and work, you can find Elsa spending time with her friends, checking out local coffee shops, or watching stand-up comedy specials on Netflix.
